Concrete Hexagon Coasters, Large White

Imagine a concrete honeycomb - hey, what a great idea for a coaster! Okay, maybe that wasn't your first thought, but it makes sense because the hexagonal pattern on the face of the coaster serves as a conduit to wick condensation away from the bottom of a wet glass. Man, those bees are smart. Mind you, this isn't the kind of concrete you'll find under the floor of your basement. The mix is a unique recipe devised by a craftsman after years of effort. These pieces are all hand-made in molds from the mix, which makes each one unique. After hardening they're hand burnished and have two coats of carnauba wax applied to them. The result is an incredibly strong, smooth, and tactile surface that is more akin to ceramic or aluminum than it is to the stuff in sidewalks. Even better, because of this process pieces will only get more beautiful with time, developing rich character and patina as they age. They'll also get more durable, rather than less, as most physical objects do. Sold in sets of 4 in White or Gray. The coaster with small 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) hexes measures approximately 4 x 4 x 3/8 (10.1 x 10.1 x 0.9 cm). The version with 1 inch (2.5 cm) hexes measures about 4 x 4 1/2 x 3/8 (10.1 x 11.4 x 0.9 cm). All coasters are backed with a cork bottom for added tabletop protection.
